Roxanne Nesbitt was born, raised and educated in Edmonton. She also completed a Creative Music Residency at the Banff Centre for the Arts. Her work focuses on expanding the acoustic and visual palette of traditional classical instruments through the incorporation of sewing and craft practices. She is also interested in cultivating the connection between concerts, visual installation and performance art.

She is also exploring the relationship between pop and contemporary music aesthetics in a collaborative project with Reginald Kachanoski called “Songs of Fortune.” Roxanne sings, plays double bass, and writes songs for this project.

Before engaging in contemporary music, Roxanne studied classical double bass performance at the University of Alberta, studying with Jan Urke and Tanya Prochazka.

Also a self-taught craft artist, Roxanne frequently instructs workshops in Edmonton on bookbinding with recycled and reused materials. She also sells her creations at local market and independent clothing stores.
